Experiment method of Paper model with QBlade
Outline:
Information of experiment method by QBlade with Horizontal Axis Wind turbine(HAWT) paper model. The combination of HAWT paper model and open source Turbine Calculation Software (QBlade) will provide the low cost experiment and aerodynamics analysis experience.
The purpose of the education tools is not full-fledged HAWT development but get a big picture view of HAWT development.Do not expect to the accuracy of paper model experiment and analysis method.
Advantage of paper model:You can carry out the low cost experiment. Rotor blade moment of inertia is negligible.
Intended Age:
For Example:- Introducing study for University and College student which learning about mechanical engineering, Electric engineering and so on
- The person who wants to catch perspective of the horizontal axis wind turbine development
Expected educational effects:
For example:
- Begineer can catch perspective of the horizontal axis wind turbine development
Average work time:
- Average assembly work time(2.5～3hr.)
- Experiment with Paper model (About 1.0~1.5 hours)
- Analysis with QBlade(About 1.0~1.5 hours)
Preparation
- Materials and tools for assemble the paper model
- PC(Windows,Linux(with WINE))
- QBlade
- Image Proccessing softwareImageJ
- Wire tie [Color tie ,Gift tie]
- Electric fan
- Digital camera[Smartphone] or USB Cam or Flat head Scanner
- Anemometer[ Smartphone anemometer App. or Anemometer by Arduino]
- Tachometer[ Smartphone Tachometer App. or Tachometer by Arduino]
