Experiment method of 3D printed model with QBlade

Outline:

Information of experiment method by QBlade with Horizontal Axis Wind turbine(HAWT) 3D printed model.
The wind turbine paper model rotor blade shape is almost straight. In general, the production wind turbine has the twisted shape rotor blade. Although, it is difficult to model the twisted shape rotor blade by paper model.

One of the solution to model the twisted shape blade is use the 3D printer. On the other hand, 3D CAD operation is not easy for 3D CAD beginner.

In this web page, we provide the key components of 3D printed wind turbine model, such as gear and hub and so on.
The wind turbine blade 3D geometry is easy to design by QBlade function without 3D CAD skill.
The combination of HAWT 3D printed model and open source Turbine Calculation Software (QBlade) will provide the low cost experiment and aerodynamics analysis experience [You can compare the performance difference of the rotor blade between "twisted shape" and "non-twisted shape" blade].

The purpose of the education tools is not full-fledged HAWT development but get a big picture view of HAWT development.Do not expect to the accuracy of 3D printed model experiment and analysis method.

Intended Age:

For Example:

  • Introducing study for University and College student which learning about mechanical engineering, Electric engineering and so on
  • The person who wants to catch perspective of the horizontal axis wind turbine development

>Expected educational effects:

For Example:

  • Begineer can catch perspective of the horizontal axis wind turbine development
  • Student who is studying mechanical engineering can imagine the engineering work

Average work time:
